Do I really Need a Website?
March 26, 2008 – 3:48 amMy answer will always be the same answer, Yes, if you are in business, no matter what type or how small, you should have a website, if you don’t you could be losing business to competitors that do.
However, it’s not enough that you just have a website. You must have a professional looking site if you want to be taken seriously. Nowadays people often search online first before buying a product or service. Therefore, your website may be the first time people form an impression about your business. For example, if you are builder it would be advisable to have a website that shows a picture portfolio of your work so people get an indication of the type and quality of work you offer. A picture can speak a thousand words.
The beauty of the internet is that it enables businesses of any size to compete against the larger companies. If you have a well-designed site, your smaller business can portray the image and professionalism of a much larger company. However, just because a company is large does not guarantee their website will be any good and in many examples the facts are quite the opposite. Often large companies have websites that are hard to navigate around, which is where your site can steal some thunder provided your own site is well designed and easy to browse or buy from.
This brings me on to another important point. Your site speaks volumes about your business. It either says, “Hey, look, we take our business seriously and we have built site that our customers will love!” or will shout out, “Hey, look, I let my 13 year-old nephew design my site. I hope it works!”.
A website will be an important part of your business.
